Walking heart rate average

Your average heart rate while walking during the day. Apple Watch works it out from readings taken as you walk, walking workouts included.

This is how hard your heart works on an everyday stroll. Apple Watch averages the heart rate readings it takes while you're walking, including walking workouts, and updates the estimate as the day goes on.

It comes from background readings, so Wrist Detection has to be on, and a snug fit helps the sensor.

A lower walking heart rate usually goes with better fitness: for the same effort, a fitter heart needs fewer beats. So a slow drift down over weeks of regular activity is a nice sign. Hot, humid days can push it up a bit.

Pajdo charts it against your own usual range. How brisk your walks are changes it too, so one speedy day isn't a verdict on anything.

What tends to push it up

  • Hot, humid weather

What tends to pull it down

  • Getting fitter over weeks and months
